Octavo, measuring 270 x 190 mm, original green cloth binding, with decoration in gilt on upper board and in blind on lower; edges gilt; pp. x, 265; with 36 albumen prints mounted on light card, with letterpress captions beneath. The print numbering runs from 1-44, but a number of print titles are incorporated in single images. Prints 1-9, 20, 39 and 41-43 are original photographs of scenes in British Guiana; the remaining prints are photographic copies of paintings, prints and drawings from various sources, including Robert Herman Schomburgk's 'Twelve views in the interior of Guiana' (London, 1841).
