Quarter leather and brown buckram stab-sewn volume (British Museum binding), measuring 233 170 mm, containing 24 albumen print portraits accompanied by letterpress biographical notices. This volume was issued in eight monthly parts from June 1863 to January 1864, each part priced at 2s. 6d. and containing three portraits. The part wrappers are bound into the work, which is also bound in with volume 2. British Library holdings comprise volumes 1-6, bound in three volumes.
