Folio album, full leather binding, with decorative work in gilt and in blind, measuring 450 x 370 mm, edges gilt, marbled endpapers. The upper board and spine are titled as above in gilt, with the arms of the City of Glasgow in gilt on the upper board. The volume has no titlepage or text, apart from titles to the photographs, and consists of thirty albumen print views of the exterior and interior of the City Chambers, Glasgow, mounted one to a page (recto only) on thick card. The names of the photographer and the architect (William Young) are printed with the caption for each photograph on the mount. This record of the building was presumably made around the time of its inauguration by Queen Victoria in 1888.
