Folio, half-leather with purple cloth boards, measuring 482 x 358 mm, with 'Patent Office Library' and crown stamped in gilt on upper board. The volume contains 41 albumen prints, mounted one to a page (recto only) on card leaves, with letterpress legend beneath each print, reading, 'Königl. historisches Museum in Dresden. Photographie und Verlag von Franz Hanfstängl in Dresden. Déposé.' The photographs, mainly of 16th- and 17th-century armour and weaponry in the Royal Historical Museum in Dresden, are accompanied by 8 pp. of descriptive notes (one folio for each of the four instalments in this volume). The collection was originally issued in 16 parts (Lieferungen), each instalment containing 10 prints, numbered continuously throughout, from 1-160. The British Library copy of the work has been bound in four volumes, as follows: vol. 1, Lieferung 1-4 (prints 1-40, with additional photographic titlepage); vol. 2, Lieferung 5-8 (print 41-80); vol. 3, Lieferung 9-12 (prints 81-120); vol. 4, Lieferung 13-16 (prints 121-160).
