Panorama showing the main buildings of Lucknow with a procession of Muhammad ‘Ali Shah (King of Oudh 1837-42) passing along the road. The procession consists of cavalry, camels, riders with kettle-drums, infantry with muskets and pennants, gold-stick bearers, the King and the British resident mounted on elephants, artillery with gun-carriages, a closed elephant carriage and a palanquin. In the foreground are pedestrians, tradesmen and water-carriers. In the background are the main buildings of Lucknow including: The Great Imambara (1), Mosque of the Great Imambara (2), Inner gateway of the Great Imambara (3), Outer gateway of the Great Imambara (4), the Rumi Darwaza (6), side view of the Mosque of the Great Imambara (?) (7), the unfinished Jami‘ Masjid (?) (8), new city with ministers’ palaces built by Sa’adat ‘Ali (11), the Kaiserbagh (12), gateway on the road between the Rumi Darwaza and the Hussainabad Imambara (13), mosque with ornamented dome within the Hussainabad Imambara (15), Hussainabad Imambara(16), second mosque within the Hussainabad Imambara(17).

Water-colour and pencil; unfinished; the buildings and some of the figures are completed but the main part of the procession with the King is indicated only in pencil.
