Inscribed in Persian: ‘navab muhammad ‘isa’ [erased] ‘ishaq khan bahadur bah hamah sifat-i mausuf’ (Nawab Muhammad Ishaq Khan Bahadur with every quality ascribed to him).
‘Charba’; mounted with dark blue border with gold floral scroll and red and blue rules.

The nobleman stands facing right along a terrace, wearing a long jama, his hands clasped in front of him.
Note: Formerly in the collection of P.C. Manuk and Miss G.M. Coles of Patna, Bihar, sold as part of the residuary collection April 1949. The picture was mounted with its present border by P.C. Manuk’s ‘daftari.’
Muhammad Ishaq Khan Mutaman al-Daula had been tutor to the emperor Muhammad Shah in his childhood, and was ‘vazir’ to the emperor when he died at the time of Nadir Shah’s invasion in 1739 (Shah Nawaz Khan (1911-52), I, 690; Irvine (1922), 354).
