The North front of Government House, Calcutta, with the Marquess of Hastings leaving in a carriage, his bodyguard accompanying him. On the right a gateway of Government House with Fort William and its telegraph mast in the background; on the left another gateway and part of Chowringhee Road.
By a Calcutta artist, c.1817.
Inscribed on back in ink’: The North Side of the Government House with the Marquis of Hastings in his carriage attended by some of his Bodyguard: Fort William with the telegraph; Part of Chowringhee Road; House of Messrs. Bagshaw, Barlow & Co.’ In pencil: ‘W.M. 1817.’
