Two cow herds are asking the wives of the Brahmins of Mathura for food for Krishna: an illustration from the tenth book of the Bhagavata Purana.

Presented by Michael Archer, 20 April 1975 (purchased from Ishwari Prasad, Patna, March 1948).
Numbered 64; inscribed on reverse in Sanskrit with the legend for the previous picture of the series where the cowherds approach the wives at an earlier moment.

Two cow herds are asking the wives of the Brahmins of Mathura for food for Krishna. Above right, three wives are attempting to leave with the food, one of them being cautioned by her husband. A fourth wife sits in a chamber bound with cord to prevent her leaving.
