Inscribed in ink in Persian in nasta‘liq: ‘naqsha-i haza qila‘-i shahr-i Agra malkiyat-i Shaikh Sharaf al-Din Ahmad valad Shaikh Ghulam Ahmad naqsha navis pansan yafta sakin muhalla Pipal Mandi Agra’ (‘Picture of the Blessed Fort of Agra, the property of Shaikh Sharaf al-Din Ahmad, son of Shaikh Ghulam Ahmad the draftsman, pensioner [of the Company] and resident of the Pipal Mandi quarter of Agra’).
Pencil, pen-and-ink, and water-colour, on squared silk; 137 by 168 cm.
