Inscribed above in nagari: Canto 7, verse 15 from Kesavadas’ Rasikapriya.
Inscribed on verso: Inventory note from Bikaner Royal Collection am 43 jam 86 san 1751 asu sambhaliya (AD 1694) and in another hand ‘94’ noting the sequence of paintings.

Purchased February 2008.
This painting is from one of two series produced at the court of Rana Jagat Singh of Mewar (1628-52) by Sahib Din to accompany the poetical verses of Kesavadas’ Rasikapriya. This painting focuses on the abhisandhita nayika, the stubborn heroine, who is personified as Radha. In the upper compartment, Radha moans about the absence of her beloved to her companion while in the lower scene, Krishna begs Radha’s forgiveness.
