Inscribed erroneously: 'South Gate of the fort at Agra.'
Pencil and water-colour; 38.5 x 61 cm.
Purchased October 2009.
Note: this watercolour was originally bound into one of a set of ten albums, Vol. IX (dispersed in 1974), documenting a journey from Calcutta to Delhi in 1814-15, taken by the Governor-General of Bengal, Francis Rawdon, (1754-1826), the second Earl of Moira and afterwards the first Marquess of Hastings.
