During the 1970s, Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through the Looking Glass’ was the inspiration for a great deal of Peter Blake’s work, of which this drawing is one example.
Blake is best known for the record cover he designed for the Beatles album, ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ (1967).
Exhibited in Waddington Galleries (Cork Street, London), Peter Blake Exhibition, 26 April – 21 May 1977. Catalogue number 71.
Presented to the British Library by Klaus Anschel in memory of his wife Gerty, 2004.
