‘Honourable East India Company’ dish with the centre enamel and gilt, the rim having a point and pendulum border, some damage, c.1816.
An armorial oval plate from the cargo of the ‘Diana’,which sank in the straits of Malacca on the 4th March 1817. The plate is one of a series apparently made to add to the official services used at the President’s residence in Madras.
Oval, 30.5cm wide.
Purchased March 1995, Christies, Amsterdam.
