Inscribed on title page in ink: ‘Life of a District Inspector of Musketry in India. Volume X of the Scraps from Life of a Soldier, India. 1860, 61, 62’; also some drawings signed with initials, dated and inscribed with titles and notes. f.39 signed: ‘J.N. Crealock’.
Pencil, pen-and-ink and wash and water-colour; size of volume, 11 by 8 ins.
Purchased, 30 October 1958.

Abu, Deesa, Nuseerabad, Rajputana, Nimbahera, Indore, Poona, Simrole, Sindhwa, Kuchnarea, Asirgarh Fort and the Narbada River. The following military men are mentioned: Colonel Payn, Mr. J.F.F. Pardoe (72nd), Captain Gayer, ‘Gordon’, Captain Gurney Hamburg (Hussars), Colonel Crawley, Captain Curtis (Inniskilling), Paymaster Smales, General Strickland, Captain Bannerman, Captain Clark (72nd), Captain Billington (Inniskilling); also Lady Maude. A court martial at Mhow is also referred to.
