Muhammad Subhan Sultan, d.1845. One of two full length drawings of sons of Tipu Sultan in the collection, made at Seringapatam.

Inscribed: ‘Subhaun Saheb 6th son of the late Tippoo Sultaun and aged about 12½ years 12 January 1801’. With notes on costume in pencil: ‘Ornament of two rows of pearls round the throat and from which a diamond ornament hangs upon the Sternum. Another ornament of two rows of larger pearls from which another ornament of large diamonds hangs and reaches to the girdle. Round the shoulders and falling below the above ornament upon the girdle is a band consisting of nine rows of pearls. The Jamma white ornamented with gold flowers’, and on reverse: ‘Subhaun Sahib, 6th son of the late Tippo Sultaun aged 12½ - 13th January 1801’.
