Water-colour; 27.5 by 19.5 cm.
Purchased 1982.
Note: Chunder Mohun Chatterjee was a nephew of Dwarkanath Tagore, philanthropist and reformer, whom he accompanied on the latter’s first visit to Europe in 1842. William Prinsep was a close friend of Tagore, and his son Charles was employed as private secretary to Tagore during the visit. The date on the drawing is the day before the party left London for Paris on the start of their return journey.
