Inscribed: ‘A view of Madura, from ye Garden House at Tipocolum. Trees too conspicuous’.

Pen and ink and wash; 25 by 47.5cm.

Presented by Mr. N. Hobhouse, 1986.

Note: The drawing was probably made after the taking of Madura by Colonel William Fullarton in 1783. Waight served in the Madras European Infantry and a detachment of the regiment was with Fullarton during the campaign.
