Scrapbook (ff.1-52) of drawings in pencil, pen and ink or water-colour depicting the daily life of the Clarence family c.1873-90, along with photographs, letters and newspaper cuttings. Almost all are by Clarence, a few by his first wife Blanche, and the album was compiled largely from drawings and illustrated letters sent by Clarence to his mother in England until her death in 1875. Most are inscribed and signed by him with the motif of a bird perched on a bell.
Album 35.5 by 25 cm.
Presented by the artist’s grandson, Sir James Richard, 1989.
