Note: The house belonged to Richard Comyns Birch (1760-1807) Bengal Civil Service, grandson of J.Z. Holwell. Birch owned several properties at Baraset listed in an inventory made after his death, including the Garden House and buildings used by Company cadets. Until 1811 it was the seat of a college to which infantry cadets were sent on their arrival in Bengal.
