A two storied house, with pillared verandah to the upper floor, and arched openings to the ground floor, standing in wide open grounds, with smaller buildings in the distance. There seems to be a crowd of people inside the entrance to the house and a few servants and an ascetic are in the foreground. c.1810.
Inscribed on reverse by Dr. W.B. Manley.
Water-colour.33 by 51.4 cm.
Purchased 1978, from the collection of W.G. and M. Archer, formerly Add.Or.3947.
Note: The drawing has been bordered by paper with an 1822 watermark but this seems to be a later addition.
