An album containing 43 drawings, one photograph, and two pages of notes. The drawings are mainly of hunting scenes and camp scenes, and reflect the pastimes of young officers in India during that period. The identifiable places where these hunting scenes took place are around Hyderabad.
Album 26.75 by 21 cm; 89 folios (several containing drawings have been excised). Forty folios are blank. Pencil (apart from ff.1 and 31 in watercolour, and f. 36 in wash), size of drawings varies.
Inside cover inscribed: ‘George Mansel. Lieut. Lt. My. His Majesty’s 30th Regiment’. Later inscriptions: ‘1823’ [in pencil]; ‘Harold Barton Mausch. Given to him by his aunt J Mausch Yatton November /98.’

Note: Monsieur Raymond established the French gun foundry at Chandarghat in the 18th century. Chandarghat is a northern suburb of Hyderabad where many Europeans used to live.
