Thirteen drawings in water-colour depicting 4 mammals, a limb, tusks etc. of musk deer, 1 bird and 7 reptilia from India; bound in a volume measuring 21 by 14 inches.
These drawings were purchased on 16th August 1866 together with the main collection.
From the inscriptions Nos.184 and 185 appear to have come from Madras and Nos.180 and 181 from Calcutta. No.180 is inscribed, 'Musk deer. Natural size in possession of J. Fleming Esqre, Calcutta'. No.174 is inscribed in Urdu, 'This animal is found in Chitkam in Kohistan. Its name is rupiya midah (chamelion). Dated 28th August, Christian year 1801. The work of Mirza Sangi Beg'. No.175 is inscribed, 'This animal is found in Chitkam in Kohistan. Its name is sanda (a species of sand-lizard). Dated 28th August, Christian year 1801. The work of Mirza Sangi Beg'. No.176 is inscribed, 'The name of this animal is Goh (a species of iguana) and is found in this country. From snout to skull - 6 inches. From skull to tail - 4 ft 6 inches. From back to belly - 6 inches. Work of Mirza Sangi Beg. Dated 28th August, Christian year 1801'. It is possible that 'Kohistan-i chitkam' refers to the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
