Acquired from the Royal Geographical Society 10 March 1974.

Note: These drawings formed part of the collection of Dr. Henry Ambrose Oldfield (1822-1871) which was presented to the Royal Geographical Society by his grandson and granddaughter, Brigadier G.P. Oldfield and Miss Margaret Oldfield.

Oldfield was Residency Surgeon in Nepal from 1850 to 1863. For other drawings from the Oldfield collection in the India Office Library see WD2778-2854 and Add.Or.2610-2615, also WD3275-3356. Although the majority of the drawings in the Oldfield collection are by Dr. Oldfield himself, a number are by Nepalese artists whom he had trained in a style not unlike his own.
