Fourteen drawings illustrating the costume and customs of various peoples in Nepal.

Acquired from the Royal Geographical Society 10 March 1974.
Note: These drawings formed part of the collection of Dr Henry Ambrose Oldfield (1822-1871) which was presented to the Royal Geographical Society by his grandson and granddaughter Brigadier G.P. Oldfield and Miss Margaret Oldfield.
Oldfield was Residency Surgeon from 1850-63. Descriptions of some of the customs and peoples here illustrated can be found in his ‘Sketches from Nepal,’ 2 vols. (London 1880).
