GHOSE, GOPAL (1913-1980)

Born in Calcutta in 1913, Ghose studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Calcutta under various masters including Abanindranath, and then at similar institutions in Jaipur (1931-35) and Madras (1935-38). He taught at the Calcutta college 1950-67. He adopted a more internationalist style than others of his generation of artists.
