Purchased 1986.
Note: Zain al-‘Abidin is an artist previously unrecorded by name. In all four of these drawings, the ground is coloured in and the sky left blank. The bottom of the picture is closed by a thick and thin black line ruled across, with the inscriptions benath.
Published in Hobhouse Ltd., ‘Indian Paintings during the British Period’, 1986, no.45, which states that these paintings are from the Holroyd Album previously dispersed (see references above). This seems open to question in view of the repetition of the ‘bihishti’, as Add.Or.2553 cited below is definitely from this album.
