Album 22.5 by 17.5 cm; page size 22 by 18 cm. Inscribed on inside cover: ‘C. W. Barrow H.M. 30 Foot’ and again on flyleaf: ‘Captain Barrow.’ On rear flyleaf: ‘My dear Uncle Charles’.

Note: the album was acquired with 5 damaged loose drawings in front, the last numbered 9, while the text block began with no. 10 (Telugu numerals). The album originally should have held 100 drawings, but the original no. 60 is omitted. It is composed of a mixture of papers, mostly laid European papers, some with the EICo shield and the date ‘1823’. It is very similar to an album in the V & A with 100 paintings (IM 355-454-1923, see M. Archer, ‘Company Paintings’, 1992, pp. 25-32), with a similar iconographical programme and inscriptions. The English here is more broken, and obviously copied from an examplar such as the V & A one without much comprehension.
