Little is known about this artist, who exhibited miniatures and portraits at the Royal Academy between 1808 and 1827. He is perhaps identical with the Roderick G. Coslett who entered the Royal Academy schools at the age of 17 in 1802.

Provenance: the sitters’ adopted niece Anne Cowles (1807-97); their great-niece Denise Voysey née Cowles; her nephew, J C Voysey. Presented by Mr and Mrs J C Voysey, of Craven Arms, Shropshire, 13 December 2004.
