Indian Army, Bengal Cavalry. Commissioned 1887. Captain 1898; Major 1905. Died in service. Served North-West Frontier 1897-8, awarded Medal with clasp; Boer War 1899-1900 mentioned in despatches, Queen’s Medal with four clasps, DSO. Awarded Viceroy’s Gold Medal for best picture painted in India 1895, 1898 and 1901. Exhibited RA 1899-1900. Published a series of water-colours of Kashmir with text by Sir F.E. Younghusband, London, 1909.
