Quarter leather and red buckram volume (British Museum binding), measuring 352 x 287 mm, with coat of arms in gilt on upper and lower boards. The volume comprises the 'nouvelle série' for the seventh year (1883) of this weekly part-work, containing 37 portraits of artists and their works, reproduced in carbon and woodburytype, with accompanying biographical notes. The reproductions of artworks are mounted on stout card, with artists' portraits mounted in the text on the facing page.
