Octavo volume, modern black cloth binding, measuring 240 x 160 mm; pp. xvii, [2], 507; woodburytype portrait frontispiece, 11 lithographic illustrations, map of author's route at end. Ernest Ayscoght Floyer (1852-1903), entered the Indian Telegraph Service at the age of seventeen and for several years was stationed on the Perso-Baluch coast of the Persian Gulf. Between 1886 and 1887, he made a number of exploratory journeys into the interior of Baluchistan, the results of which are recorded in the present work. From 1877 until his death in Cairo in 1903, he held the position of Inspector General of Egyptian Telegraphs.
