Blue folio buckram volume (modern binding dated 31 March 1978) measuring 432 x 323 mm and containing 18 albumen print views of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Nablus, Nazareth, Tiberia, Baniyas, Damascus and Baalbek, with descriptive letterpress. The work, originally published in two parts and containing a total of 37 photographs, is here incomplete, lacking the first volume containing plates 1-19 (views at Thebes, Philae, Baalbek, Sinai, Jerusalem and Damascus). Pressmarks Wf1/4620, 4621, 4622, 4624 and 4625 are an incomplete set of Frith's 'Egypt, Palestine and Nubia,' a four-volume work issued in eight parts in 1863, under the following titles: vol. I, 'Sinai and Palestine,' vol. II, 'Lower Egypt, Thebes and the Pyramids,' vol. III, 'Upper Egypt and Ethiopia,' vol. IV, 'Egypt, Sinai and Palestine. Supplementary volume.' The present set lacks vol. I part 1, vol. III part 2, vol. IV part 2. A copy of the complete letterpress of vol. III, lacking the photographs, can be found at Af962*3*DSC.
