Hand-coloured, woodblock-printed maps of the eight traditional provinces of Korea.
1 Hamgyŏng-do 咸鏡道 ; 2 Kyŏngsang-do 慶尙道 ; 3 Chŏlla-do 全羅道 ; 4 P'yŏngan-do 平安道 ; 5 Kyŏnggi 京畿 ; 6 Ch'ungch'ŏng-do 忠淸道 ; 7 Kangwŏn-do 江原道 ; 8 Hwanghae-do 黃海道.
Possibly part of an album of 13 maps which would have included a world map, maps of China, Japan and Ryukyu and a map of the Korean peninsula. Late 18th century.

Format: 8 individual sheet maps mounted on guards and bound in an album Western style.
Material: Ink and colour on paper.
Dimensions: Album measures 363 x 440 mm. Each sheet 355 x 400 mm with the maps measuring roughly 290 x 350 including a border of 20 mm in width.
Marginalia: Some of the maps have manuscript notes around the edges
