An oaken board, once fixed over the doorway of ancient disused synagogue in Old Cairo, and brought to England in 1897. The inscription contains parts of Deuteronomy 6:5 and Psalms 5:8, and mentions the name of the synagogue benefactor, Obadiah ben Japheth Abul Ma῾ali.

There is also a small fragment of a board with some letters in relief, illegible (fixed on to the end of the board).

Three straight lines cut into the wood over the inscription, two between the two lines if incised writing, and one under the inscription.
