Collation
Extant quires are mostly of 8 leaves each.
Quires marked by decorative catchwords on the last page, but only few of them have been preserved.
Condition
Many pages have trimmed margins.
Water damage at edges.
Finger grease, stains, wax, etc.
A few areas of mould mottling.

Ashkenazi square script of the 14th century. Shimshon ben Ya῾aḳov Vivant: inscribed as the main scribe in the colophon, folio 460v. Shelomoh ha-Naḳdan: inscribed as the punctuator in the colophon on folio 460v.
Binding
Pre-1600. Thick brown leather, blind tooled boards, with bosses. Embroidered velour doublures. Boxed.

Accompanying Material
A paper quarto is prefixed to the manuscript, containing a partly Hebrew and partly German letter addressed by the leaders of Dusseldorf to the community in Essen, asking for help on behalf of the Jews of Lissa, whose houses and possessions were destroyed by fire. The letter is dated the fifth day of week, 10 Ṭevet 528 (1768). Outside address: Herrn Abraham Moses, vornehmer Handelss Jude in Essen.
