The name of the scribe, Shabtai ben Mordekhai of Sulmona, is mentioned in the heading, below a diagram showing the signs of the zodiac.

Collation
Quires of mostly 8 leaves each.
Condition
Imperfect at the end.
First few and last leaves damaged by damp and mould, with some losses and brittle edges. The damage was repaired, probably before rebinding.
Damp entry at corners and edges with tidemarks.
Slight dirt entry at head.
A few usage stains.
Binding rubbed at joints. Raised bands.

Pricking and hard-point ruling is visible.
Flesh side and hair side of folios is distinguishable.

Italian cursive of the 15th century. Shabtai ben Mordekhai of Sulmona: inscribed in the heading, folio 2v, and marked off at the beginning of lines on folios 8v and 12v.

Folio 1r: Almanzi's entry giving the contents of both Add MS 26921 and 26922.

Origin: 15th century ; ItalyProvenance and Acquisition
Folio 2r: partly legible entry regarding the transfer of the manuscript by the scribe and the first owner, Shabtai ben Mordekhai, to a person whose name is no longer legible. The date of the translation fell in 1459.

Giuseppe Almanzi (b. 1801, d. 1860), bibliophile; his manuscript no. 30a: his library including 322 medieval Hebrew manuscripts were purchased en bloc by the British Museum in October 1865 for £1,000 through Asher & Co., Berlin bookseller and dealer to the British Museum: inscribed, back flyleaf (i)v.
