Dal᾿alah al-ha᾿irin by Maimonides
Contents
Guide for the Perplexed by Maimonides in Judeo-Arabic.
Language(s): Judeo-Arabic
ff. 1r-192vTitle: Dal᾿alah al-ha᾿irinTitle: דלאלת אלחאיריןOne of the earliest dated and complete manuscripts of the Guide for the Perplexed in Judeo-Arabic, and one of the earliest decorated or illuminated manuscripts in a Jewish language other than Hebrew or Aramaic. It is also one of the earliest surviving decorated Hebrew manuscripts from Yemen, from the late 14th century.
The manuscript was acquired by the Anglican missionary Joseph Wolff in the early 19th century, who apparently gave it to Sir Thomas Baring, grandfather of Lord Northbrook, who deposited it in the India Office in 1877.
