Half-length left profile carte de visite portrait of Tazeena Harrison (née Waller). A biographical note from the donor records: 'In Vincent Eyre's Journal of an Afghanistan Prisoner ... it is recorded ... that on 20 Apr 1842, at Fort Tazeen, Afghanistan, Mrs Waller, wife of Lieutenant H. Waller of the Bengal Horse Artillery, was delivered of a daughter ... She was given the name Tazeena (sic). About 20 years later, at Kandy, Tazeena Waller married George Denis Browne Harrison, a civil engineer from Dublin, who had gone to Ceylon to survey a route for a railway from Colombo to Kandy, then repaired the 'tanks' (reservoirs) and subsequently became manager of a coffee plantation near Kandy ... [He later] introduced tea-growing in Ceylon ... Later, for the sake of his wife's health, he moved to Bristol, where he managed a chemical works. There his daughter Frances Maud Harrison married a neighbour who was a master at Clifton College: the Revd Edward Hardin Firth. They were my maternal grandparents...'
