Colophon: Fols. 99v and 216v in Samaritan characters, and on 284v in Arabic. Colophon on fol. 284v gives the scribe and the date. A poetical colophon by the brother of the priest, Isaac is on fol. 285r.Physical Description

Collation
28 quires: i-v10, vi-vii8, viiixxvii-10, xxviii10-1.
Catchwords on each verso, end of each column, signature in top right corner with Samaritan characters and Arabic numbers (written by the same hand).
First quire containing the table of content is different paper, perhaps added later.
Eight-hole sewing with no kettle stiches and no head or tail bands.
Condition
Iron gall ink corrosion in places (fol. 173 very fragile).
Stains, smudged ink in places.
Fingerprint on fol. 87v.

Ruling is by stylus and is for the justification lines only.
Justification is by compression and internal separation.
Corrections include erasure, overwriting and the supply of replacement or new matter between lines and in the margins.

Samaritan and Arabic scripts of the 18th century.
The scribe was Jacob ben Murjan ben Abraham ben Ishmael the Danfi.
Fols. 286r-286v were written by Shelah ben Abraham ben Salama ben Murjan ben Muslim.
Decoration
Geometrically embellished band under the colophons on fol. 99v and 216v.
Additions:Folio 286 was written in 1847 (1264 AH).
Binding
Full leather oriental binding with fore edge flap, blind-tooled with strawberry, goat's hoof and small elongated 'S' motifs.
Spine: 'Marḳa. Commentary on Pentateuch. Aramaic&Arab.Samaritan. Brit. Mus. Oriental 7923.'
In the digital surrogate the front binding board with the flap open is called back flyleaf (ii)r; the back binding board with flap extended is called back flyleaf (ii)v; and the fore edge is called back flyleaf (iii)r.
