Incomplete, minor tears along the edges.

As the folding line on the left margin indicates, the leaf might have been one half of a bifolium from a codex.

Hand(s)

Samaritan script of the 16th century.

The scribe was Hassebhi ben Joseph ben Tabya, Levitical priest.

Binding

Bound together with 12373 (a-f) in blue post binder.

History

Origin: 1510-1520 West Bank (Shechem)

Provenance and Acquisition

M. Gaster received it as a gift from Miss Landau of Jerusalem, November 1912 (see Gaster's notes).

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1165; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924.
