- Title:
- The performance-related objects belonging to Jigmed Thakpa
- Scope & Content:
-
The "archive" belonging to a dormant Buchen household with no clear Buchen lineage in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh (not in Pin). All the materials in the archive are kept within the prayer room of the house and include a statue, conch and box. The householders could not articulate a clear connection to a Buchen lineage and this may be from too distant a point in the past. They did however talk of a relative they called Delok Meme, a grandfather who had died and then come back to life for a month, like the famous Deloks (returnees from the death realm) whose stories provide Buchen with material to illustrate the 18 Buddhist hells (Nyellam Chobgya) that potentially await at the end of ones life. 1 Series : Other Objects
The material is owned by Jigmed Thakpa and has been handed down through several generations. All the materials in the archive are kept within the prayer room of the house.
