In his note, Gaster describes this codex as Sefer toldot, and mentions another MS from his collection (no. 863): Divre ha-yamim shel Shomronim. Codex Gaster. 863 is currently in the John Rylands Library, Manchester (see. Robertson no. 257).

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 862: inscribed with his name (folios 1r, 9r); purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; accession 28 March 1930: inscribed on fol. 9v.
