Title: Fragment of a letter in Judeo-Persian

The author of the letter seems to be describing a prediction, mentions correspondence between Yazid b. al-Muhallab b. Abu Sufrah and the Ispahbud (prince of Tabaristan), and reports about the sale of sheep (see line 23: רסד צון יזיד פרסתד ותן מסמא נזדיק סבאבד - "when Yazid sent the person mentioned to Ishpahbad...").

Provenance and Acquisition

It belonged to the collection of Aurel Stein who found it on one of his excavations at Dandan Uiliq, NE of Khotan (China) (see, Stein, Ancient Khotan, pp. 306-309).
