The quires (mostly of 10 leaves) were rebound in the wrong order.
Catchwords sometimes only on the versos, sometimes on rectos as well.
Condition
Very fragile leaves, many of them patched, some lined with silk gauze (e.g. fol. 94, 101).
Usage stains, extensive water damage, mould, worm damage.

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1681: inscribed with his monogramme on back flyleaf (i)v, upside down; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924: inscribed on back flyleaf (ii)v: date of accession 14 February 1929: inscribed on back flyleaf (i)r.
