Origin: 1800-1899 19th century India (Bombay)Provenance and Acquisition
Ownership inscription on f. 46v: "Elijah Ezekiel", and underneath M. Gaster's comment: "This man is the eldest son of Rahamim Samuel Salkar's elder(?) brother. A Bene Israel of Bombay. This Ms was copied by a Bene Israel (from an ancient original!)."
M. Gaster's note on f. 46v: "[Fro]m Samuel B. Samuel [who?] obtained it from the Bene Israel of Bombay [...]ere these are [...] 9.3.07. M. Gaster".
Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 741 inscribed with his name on f. 1r; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924.
