Or 12270D: description of the MS: 'Samaritan MSS derive their value 1st from being written in the ancient Hebrew Character, and 2nd from agreeing in more the two thousand passages with the Septuagint where the Septuagint differs from the received text. The present fascimile of the book of Exodus is copied from a MSS purchased from the Samaritan Community in Nablus by Professor Levisohn on behalf of Russia. This MSS called the by the Samaritans "the fire ... is traditionally stated to have been written while the first temple still stood - to have been preserved from fire in Babylon - and to have been brought back from there to Shechem. It is complete from Gen.1:29 till xxxiiirdchapter of Deuteronomy. It contains three notes, one at the end of Genesis, and two at the end of Exodus. The note at the end of Genesis runs thus...'
