Samaritan Hebrew script and Arabic script of the 19th-20th century, black and red ink. Scribe was Hilmi ben Jacob ben Shelaby, the Danfi (Shunnar indicates that there is no scribe, but Hilmi gives his name twice).
Binding
Quarter bound, Islamic flap case in red leather, with paper side panels.
History
Origin: 1901-1924 1st quarter of the 20th century, the known active period of the scribe (Crown); Gaster dated it to 1281 AH (=1865 CE), which according to Crown is too early for the type of paper. ShechemProvenance and Acquisition
M. Gaster's initials erased on fol. 128v.
Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1121; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 16 November 1931: inscribed on back flyleaf (i)r.
