According to the colophon in [BL] Add MS 9406, fol. 32v: Solomon bar Jehielwrote this mahzor for "R. .. bar Abraham"; dated 8 Nisan 5069 (=1309).

Ashkenazi square script, punctuated and accentuated, of 14th century. Shelomoh  bar Yeḥiʾel, inscibed with his name in volume two of this manuscript, Add MS 9406, folio 32v, with a date of Nisan 5069 (1309).

Provenance and Acquisition

1834

Adam Clarke (b. 1762, d. 1832), Wesleyan Methodist minister and scholar: his bookplate with Greek inscription: ‘ho theos agape estin’(inner upper cover). This manuscript formed part of the collection of ten Hebrew manuscripts, together with Add MS 9398-9407, once property of the Hagen family and then bought for Adam Clarke at Utrecht in 1823, acquired by the British Museum in 1834.
