Note in the margin on f. 1r refers to Shabtai Beʾer's Beʾer Eśeḳ published in Venice 1674: מפירארה עיין ס' באר עשק שאלה ע"ח דף פ"ו ע"א .

Antonio Frizzi in his Storia de Ferrara, seconda edizione, vol. IV, p. 394, mentions the appointment of the Holy Inquisition in Ferrara in 1568 which arrested 16 unhappy creatures of both sexes. (see 10131.f.22)

This affair is connected with pope Pius V’s restrictions against the Jews, which preceded the expulsion of the Jews from papal states in the year 5328(in 1568/9).
