A series of prescriptions and notes according to the practical kabbalah.

ff. 1r-114vTitle: Ḳovets be-ḳabalah ma῾asitTitle: קבץ בקבלה מעשיתFolios 4r-27r: segulot u-refu᾿ot, i.e. a series of mystical and magical prescriptions. A number of alternative prescriptions are often given.
Folios 27r-80v: magical prescriptions and notes, some with connection to a dream request. Folio 75r begins an adaptation of Shemoneh ῾esreh. Notes and comments on names and letters of the alfabeth follow.
Folios 82v-95r: a section headed Sefer ha-ḥesheḳ (cf. Add MS 27120, folio 2r sqq), containing explanations and vocalisations of the divine names, a direction on writing an amulet, explanations of the angelic names.
Folios 95r-100r: a piece concerning the angels governing the days of the week.
Folios 100r to the end: a piece headed Shemot tehilim, on the practical use of the Psalms.

Giuseppe Almanzi (b. 1801, d. 1860), bibliophile; his manuscript no. 248: his library including 322 medieval Hebrew manuscripts were purchased en bloc by the British Museum in October 1865 for £1,000 through Asher & Co., Berlin dealer to the British Museum (see [Paisey_1997] 131-153): inscribed, back flyleaf (i)v.
